What a cheeseball! and a papasan chair make-over

 About a week ago I went with a friend to target because they had all their halloween stuff marked down 90%!!! I got this next little costume for $2. It's going to be too small for Siena next year, but I figured maybe a future child could wear it. I tried it out on Siena though. She's a fan!

We painted the little nightstand in the next picture. It also matches a small cute yellow bookshelf that we painted as well. I want to put cute handles on it eventually, but I like how it turned out. The yellow shelves were Joel's idea.

 We also found this miniature papasan chair at a garage sale for $2 the other day and couldn't pass it up. Literally the night before we found it, Joel and I were joking about wanting a papasan chair for siena..what are the odds on that one!?!?

 We painted the legs because they were originally a purple color and then re-covered it with new fabric. I'm kind of in love with it!:)

I think Siena likes it too.lol

 She also  showed off some muscle by carrying it around..

 Before we put her down for a nap or to bed at night we always sing "I am a Child of God." Joel began singing it the other day at random and this was the face she gave the entire way through it (I think she thought she was going to bed..):

 This was my birthday "cake" on monday. Brownie ice cream sundaes. Yumm!

 Any time Joel lays down on the ground, Siena goes and lays down next to him.  I love it, it's SO sweet!

Baby Bow Tie

A couple of weeks ago it was a friend's little boy's birthday, so I decided to make him a bow tie! I took some pictures so hopefully you can make sense of how I made it.

Cute huh? Ok, here goes:
First I went and measured his neck to get an idea of how long I wanted it to be.  I believe it was 13 inches, and so I made it 15 inches and just made the velcro pieces longer so it would be adjustable and he could wear it longer.  After cutting the strip 15 inches long and about 3 inches wide I folded the strip in half and ironed it down.  Then I opened it back up and folded the edges in at about 1/4 inch on each side like so:

I then folded the end pieced in about 1/4 inch as well like so:

I then Zig-Zagged the Velcro onto the strap. I didn't want my Zig Zags to show through on my bow tie, so I did it onto only 1 layer of my strap and before folding down my edges and sewing it.  I cut my Velcro to 2 inches in length, and then attached it by Zig-Zagging around all 4 edges of both the soft and scratchy pieces of Velcro. These were my settings on my machine for the zig-zag.

I re-folded the strip in half and sewed along the edges.

I hot glued the bow onto the strap when I glued the strip onto the front of the bow tie.. Does that make sense? Instead of just gluing the strip down once you've gathered the bow, I stuck my strap underneath the bow, and then glued the strip pieces down. Sorry, not too sure how else to explain that. If you want a better explanation, let me know and I can give it a go.lol

A whole new kitchen

Just before leaving for Christmas vacation, Joel and I purchased a new table off of KSL. This table had GREAT potential! It's got a stainless steel top, but the legs and chairs of the table were a light wood..so we decided to fix it up a bit! We spray painted the legs of the table as well as the chairs, and then added cushions to the seats of the chairs.  I roughly used the outline given by Martha Stewart on how to make a seat cushion.

  We also re-covered a lovely picture that I've had for a while.  It's an awesome "painting" of Venice..but it just wasn't fitting the style of our house. Since I love this painting however I really didn't want to just get rid of it..so we just put fabric over it for now so that If I decide I still want it, you just have to uncover it.

We had to attach a layer of white fabric over it first to make sure the painting wasn't seen through the pattern of our new fabric. To attach it, we just stretched the fabric over the frame and used our staple gun to attach it in the back.

My Christmas projects

Over Christmas I made lots of things! I made, 2 ties, 1 new wreath, a hat, and since we've been back Joel and I have re-painted our kitchen chairs along with adding a cushion and new fabric to them. I'm also working on re-covering a bunch of pillows that will go on our new couches.  Lots to do!:)

This thing didn't cost me anything to make because I already had everything.  I just took newspaper that I rolled and then shaped it into a circle and taped it that way.  Then I duct taped it all the way around just so it would hold it's shape. I then wrapped that in fabric, and embellished it with random things that I made/already had.

Well!! For Christmas I made quite a few things.  2 ties, a new wreath, a new hat for my brother's girl "friend"..lol and since we've gotten home we've repainted our new kitchen chairs, given them cushions and new fabric, and I've been working on pillows for our couch as well! Lots and lots of projects!

While in Kentucky I made a hat, or I guess I "embellished" a hat for James to give to one of his girl "friends".  We bought a cheap gray hat that had just a black ribbon around it, and then I added everything else.  Thiw was a really fun project, and I think it turned out pretty cute!

Quiet Book/Texture book

This is Siena's quiet book. I got a lot of the designs from other quiet books that I have seen, like this one.  She also had a little girl one that I used some designs from as well. Tricia and I also came up with a few designs too. She has a little boy though so we did a few different designs, so I'm excited to see her finished product. I had so much fun making this.  We got a lot of scraps from Tricia's mother-in-law(who by the way is an awesome quilter!!)  Anyway, I really like the finished product. Check it out!
