Series of Unfortunate Events

So today was not necessarily my best day to say the least.  I took a test that I didn't feel so good about, plus got a paper back that I apparently did not meet up to the teacher's standards on, and to top it off I found out I didn't get a 100 on a quiz I thought I had gotten a perfect score on.

Well the real story begins when I arrived home though.  I had ordered Joel's birthday presents a couple of days ago so I was expecting them in the mail. I was soo excited when I walked into the kitchen and saw the first package sitting on the table.  When I got closer, I realized that that package was approximately 10 sheets of paper thick.  I mean this thing wasn't even as thick as my fingers (I had ordered him a book that was suppose to be of substantial size-276 pgs).

Let me give you a little background on this book order I placed.  I looked online and found the newest version of it, and also tried to find the cheapest version.  I was overjoyed with myself when I found the book for only $4 and was the 2nd newest version.

Anyway, back to the story.  I opened the package to realize that this "book" I had ordered was actually "A Condensation from the book: How to Win Friends & Influence People".

If you don't understand the implications,  I basically bought the clifnotes version of the book Joel had wanted for his birthday. Ya..
Joel then followed up by saying, "maybe I should have just ordered my presents.."

This was my breaking point. I walked back to the bedroom, layed down on my bed and began sobbing.  It only took a few minutes before Joel came to join me.  He layed down next to me and gave me a hug.  Joel began to laugh and said through his snickers,
"I've already thought of some positives to the book you got me."
I was still slightly crying so I didn't say anything.  He continued, "I know you only had my well-being in mind when you bought that book because now I can read this, say that I've read the book, and carry on conversations with people about the main points in it, but you've saved me all this time of reading the entire thing, so now I can read more books."
Needless to say, I started laughing as well and he was able to pull me out of my somber mood quickly after that comment.  <-- I have the greatest husband ever!:)
