Garage Sale finds and random photos

Ok, these pictures definitely aren't the best, but they'll do! There are a lot of them too, so bear with me!

Siena LOVES to read. It's adorable. She'll grab a book and sit for a bit and just go through the pages. I love watching her.
On Friday, we went to Sirloin Stockade. They had one of these in Mexico and Joel went there a lot on his mission, so we had to go once just for the memories.

We were EXTREMELY full walking out of there. We decided after this experience that we aren't really buffet people.
Siena was soaking it up! She loved watching all the people walk by her and waved to everyone!
We got a lot of stuff this weekend at garage sales. Some of the stuff was even free which was awesome. I'll mark what was free.

This chair was FREE! We drove by a ladies house and she had some furniture sitting by the side of the road that was labeled FREE. I was ecstatic! So we picked up 2 pieces.

Here is the finished product of the chair:

This was $5 and it's a very heavy, solid wood piece that's in great condition..just a paint job and it'll be great!

Another FREE piece. We got 6 different handles from Hobby Lobby for this guy! I'm so excited to get it painted and stick those handles on it!

We got this for $15. It was exactly what we have been looking for! We needed a desk for our desktop computer that we just got and we happened to run across this yesterday.

This was not from a garage sale, but this is the shirt that I made from some of that vintage fabric that I got at the garage sale a week or 2 ago. I love it!

Aint she cute!?
Ok, these next shirts are all from one garage sale where a girl had a bunch of vintage clothes and I was stoked to get all of these clothes for $5! I have to tailor them, but I think once I do they're going to be awesome!

The next 3 are the only ones that I've tailored so far. They're so fun!

We also got these 2 blu-ray's from a garage sale for $4 each.
These Steve Madden shoes were actually from last weekend, but I realized that I never got a picture of them. I think they're so great and they were only $2.

I have one last picture. Have I mention that Siena loves to dress up?! I think she's really going to enjoy Halloween!

Off to Dallas for a Club Foot Update!

This morning Siena and I got up and headed off to Dallas for a Dr's visit at the Scottish Rite Hospital.
Proof that we were in Dallas. See the "Reunion tower" (The big ball in the background)?

After filling out some paperwork we waited for them to call us back.

Some of the sweet decor. This thing was spinning, jingling and clicking..etc. It definitely entertained Siena.

They told us that it would be a few minutes so we went to the cafeteria to eat our sandwiches. While we were eating there was a table of ladies sitting near us that were chatting and kept laughing. Of course, Siena then copied their laughs. Hope the ladies didn't notice that my daughter was MOCKING them....haha
Hanging out in the room before seeing the Dr. Siena loved sticking her tongue out in the mirror.

The actual update: He kept saying that since he hadn't seen her foot before, he couldn't really say what kind of change it had made, but he said that her foot was looking really really good. He said that by looking at her x-rays that he thinks she will have Fibular Hemimelia. If you look that up online, it's a pretty scary sounding thing, but don't worry. Because she is able to stand and walk, I'm pretty positive that they won't have to amputate her leg. When you look at all the cases in which they amputated, they did it when they were really young and the child's foot didn't have all the shape that Siena's has. The Dr told us to come back in whenever she grows out of her next pair of shoes which means 6 mo-1 year from now.

Side note: apparently our old Dr 's office was state of the art because this new dr doesn't use the shoes that she has. They only have the old school ones that are stationary and don't rotate like the ones Siena has. We are counting ourselves lucky for having had the Dr that we had. Boy are we missing Dr Klatt and Primary Children's, but I'm sure we'll have a good experience with this new Dr.

Here are our fun finds from this last weekend's Garage sales:
  •  1 book $0.25
  • 6 different  types of vintage fabric for $3.00 total! (Each had about 2-3 yards worth!)
    • The fabrics were either old ones that this lady had purchased, or some were her mother's that had been handed down to her! Pretty sweet!
  • and Veggie Tale's Jonah and the Whale DVD for $1.
Success!:)
Here's the tag from one of the fabrics:

I didn't even know that JCPenny even sold fabric once upon a time.. Anyone know when the last time was they sold fabric? Kinda fun!

Campfire, dress up and garage sales..:)

Joel was reading Siena's favorite book to her before leaving for work

She sleeps in the weirdest positions!

Siena loves snuggling with Daddy while he's working!

I made some chocolate banana bread a little bit ago, and Siena LOVED IT!:)

We went this last weekend and did a campfire with some friends. There was a donkey nearby and Siena was not a fan!

I let Siena have a chocolate cookie and she was in heaven!

Last weekend we got a few dress-up items for Siena at garage sales and she especially loves her skirt!lol

Our finds this last weekend at garage sales:
We got
  • 2 blue ray dvd's for $3 each (How To Train Your Dragon and A Bug's Life),
  • 3 more dvd's for $2 each (Lion King, The Wind in the Willows, and Tinkerbell)
  • a Tinkerbell dress-up outfit and a fluffy dress-up skirt for free (It was the same garage sale as the movies and I guess the ladie's sister didn't want to go down in price on the movies..so I'm pretty sure she gave us the dress-up stuff for free!)
  • A pair of jeans for me which surprisingly fit PERFECTLY, for $2
  • and the Racquetball racket was actually from craigslist for $5.
Anyway! That's the latest here. Hope things are going well for you!

Best find yet!

Well, today Joel and I got this trunk at a garage sale. Joel and I had given the man the money before we looked at it too closely. After looking closer we began to notice quite a few imperfections. I also began to question our purchase. Now I want to keep it for our home! We used a little wood filler ( for the massive gap you will see in one of the pictures below), sanded it down and painted it and now it looks great! The photos don't do it justice..lol but check it out!
The original trunk.

Notice this awful gap in the wood!

Pretty cool huh?! We love it!
