1 Year Anniversary and Siena's 1 Month

August 21, 2011 marked our 1 year anniversary as well as Siena's 1 month birthday. It was an amazing time for Kristin and I as we thought about the last year. We both love food, so as you can see, a lot of our celebrating was going out to eat or making food. On Saturday we went to Little Caesar's and then to Macy's for some ice cream.

Then on Sunday, Kristin gave me a journal that she had been writing in for this last year that recorded her thoughts on what has happened in our life. It was so fun to go back and read from her perspective our last year of events.

That night, we also baked and ate a no bake cheesecake with a cookie crust.

We also took some pictures for Siena's 1 month birthday!

Then on Monday we went to Gloria's Little Italy. We have been talking about wanting to go there for months now and haven't got around to it, so we finally went while Rachel babysat Siena for us. It was so much fun to have some time with just the two of us. We had some amazing 5 formaggi pasta as well as Italian Sodas. Afterwards we walked and talked while at the mall and then we went to Yogurtland and got some amazing icecream sundaes! We decided that we'd have no guilt this weekend when it came to food, and I'm pretty sure from the pictures, you can tell we didn't.

That ends our 3 days of celebrating our 1 year anniversary. We really enjoyed the fun time together and look forward to another exciting year. This past year we got married, we had a baby, I completed an internship at Goldman Sachs, and Kristin graduated from college. I'm sure this next year will be full of surprises as well!

New Picture Frames

Kristin and I were getting a little bored and really wanted to do some new projects. And since our anniversary was coming up, we thought we'd do something to remember some of our memories from this past year. Rachel Brinkerhoff recently took some amazing pictures for us of our family and of Siena, so we decided to print up some pictures and frame them.

We started of with a couple of old frames from DI.

In total we spent 10 dollars on the frames. Then we printed up the photos including a portrait of our new little family.

We did the matte with a 22x28 piece of poster board from Wal-Mart. Then we spray painted the old nasty frames and inserted our newly printed photos. And there ya go...

She feeds herself!

Joel writing again... Just a few small things. I found out the other day while feeding Siena that she is very good at feeding herself. All you have to do is position her hands around the bottle and she will continue to feed herself.

So hilarious! Also we got back the finished product from Color me Mine!

The saw...

Hi all, this is Joel giving an update... We had visit #2 at the Doctor's today. Let's just say that it was a little nerve wrecking (see the pictures of the saw). Every week Siena has to have the cast replaced for the first month or so. We found out today that around the 4th week, they will cut her Achilles's tendon and then cast it again for about 3 weeks to let it grow back. After that, she will begin the 2 shoe brace for 3 months all day. Then it will be on for another 3 years to fully correct her foot. We will also have X-Rays done around 6 months to see how her leg is developing and whether or not it will grow at the same rate as her other leg. We got some good information today.

To remove the cast today they used this crazy saw/vacuum thing. Check it out.

The Doctor said her foot looks really good so far. It's already so much straighter! So cool!

Here's the old cast and the new one getting put on.

We are just so glad that it is getting fixed while she is still so small and it won't affect her hardly at all throughout her life. What a blessing. More updates to come!!

We love weekends with Daddy!lol

This weekend was so fun! Joel got home from work early on Friday so we got an early start to our weekend!

So cute!
After hanging out for a little while and eating dinner on Friday we headed off to Color Me Mine to paint a mug with Siena's hand print and birthdate info. Here are some of those photos:

Chillin in her carseat waiting for her chance at the mug..lol

We attempted a hand print...Here's the result:

Success? I think not..but it adds character right?lol We then decided that a foot print would suffice.

The finished procuct..however they still have to put the glaze on it and bake it.. i'll post the completed product once we've picked it up.

Our mess..lol

After Color Me Mine we headed off to Cocoa Bean and got a cupcake and a free drink with a coupon. Love coupons!lol

On Saturday we got ready and Rachel Brinkerhoff came over and took baby photos for us! They turned out GREAT too! You can see those on our facebook or on hers! She did such a great job and we're so happy with all the photos we got!

Saturday afternoon Joel and I did "tummy time" with Siena. This is just something that the Dr's suggested to help babies start developing their muscles and motor skills..But ya, as you can see from the picture we were given some black and white pictures that we put in front of her that are stimulating for her brain..

Well...When Joel was showing her some of the pictures she started smiling! Each time he switched the picture she would smile again! Not sure if this was just a coincidence and she just had gas..but it sure didn't seem like it.lol here are those pictures:

So darn cute! Can't wait til she can smile all the time! Anyway! that was pretty much our weekend! Lots of fun! Have a great day!
